Hi!
Today, I finished Where The Dark Stands Still by A.B. Poranek after devouring it in under two days which hasn’t happened in years. So now I’m looking for something similar.
I eat up stories with the trope of grumpy magical being (wizard, demon, etc) reluctantly falling in love with the stubborn but kind protagonist. Gender is irrelevant. I have started reading Howl's Moving Castle (I love the film) and also loved Uprooted and Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. I’m looking for books like that. I am not at all interested in spice and would prefer it not to contain steamy scenes, so maybe I’m looking at YA exclusively here? No sure.
I love themes of found family, folklore/mythology/nature magic, and I’d very much like there to be a plot. It doesn’t have to be as dark as Uprooted, I’m equally happy with just a fun fantasy adventure romp. Bonus points if there are sentient houses/house spirits and/or mysterious forests and/or queer rep.
(Oh, I’ve read and loved the Winternight trilogy too! And T.J. Klune is too sickly sweet for me.)

Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher! Very mild romance and no spice, plus a bit of real and found family. The audiobook narration is excellent also.
