I’m looking for a book that gets me inside the head of people pleasers. Does it feel scary? Are they being intentionally manipulative? Is it a defensive tactic (and against what)?
The ideal book has a main, 1st person voice, character who is a people pleaser, but I would settle for side characters, 3rd person, etc.
I am most interested in how people pleasing goes awry—the person was “just being friendly” but someone thinks it’s love; the person says yes to everything and ends up in a world of chaos and everyone is mad at them.
But I really just want insight into what it’s like to be wired that way.
Thanks, fellow bookaholics!
