“Nought is had, all is spent / where our desires’ got without content / it is safer to be that which we destroy / than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy.” – Lady Macbeth
I’m a lover of poetry, philosophy and religion, and I feel I’m in the beginning stages of revealing to myself my own philosophy.
I did a little research on Karl Marx and I find that his ideas go directly against what I believe in. “Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the constant renewal of your mind” – Romans 12:2. There’s so much hate, destruction, and ill-will directed at the world and others in so many people, when all that negative energy should be directed at ourselves.
We say that things like depression, anxiety, psychotic illnesses, and other disorders, are the hindrances of our lives, when it seems to me that that’s exactly the way things are supposed to be – that’s what gives our lives meaning.
So, what books would you suggest, exploring down these lines, to help me gain more insight?
