You don’t actually need to read the following paragraphs if you are not interested in my situatuon readind the criteria part will suffice.

Here is the thing… Even though i know english i’ve never actually read any book in english until recently. Of course i read some kids book (like Alice in Wonderland and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz etc.) when i was learning english and i read comics and manga in english but not a book that i wanted to read.

It”s because reading books in my Turkish is much cheaper and eays to acces since i live in Turkey. Therefore i was a bit insecure and the thought of that i wouldn’t be able to finish the book due to lack of english cause me to get cold feet multiple times.

But evidently i got over my self and read To Kill a Mocking Bird which was a book that i’ve been meaning to read. But reading that book in english felt like a chore. I don’t know why exactly but my guess is reading in english decrased my already slow reading speed. And that did not help with my insecurity.
Tankfully i bought 11 22 63 by Stephen King before my struggle with To Kill a Mocking because Turkish version of 11 22 63 was out of stock. Anyway i read 11 22 63 and absolutely loved both the book and the experience of reading a book in english. So i’ve come to the conclusion this was because of King’s prose style.

So i am in need of some guidence here.

    Here is my criteria:
    1. A prose style that is similar to King’s or at least eays to read, page-turner.
    2. It has to be fiction.
    3. I would prefer to read sci-fi fantasy but i am okay with every fiction.
    4. No YA!

By the way how would you describe Stephen King’s prose style?

    1. I would maybe check out Alex Michaelides! (The silent patient/the maidens are notable works). I’d say his prose is similar, he’s also from greece and lives in england so he writes in a more UK english style than US english style. I only speak one language but given that you’re turkish, I can imagine that UK english is a bit more familiar to you. King is from new england and their dialect is closer to british english than say someone from Texas!
