Not that I hate white conservative men, I just don’t always want to be fed their literature when reading sci-fi. I really liked the cyberpunk 2077, mass effect and shadowrun games, but was hoping to look for a book that’s like these but an alternate perspective than the usual sci-fi writer.

I’m currently about to finish the locked tomb series which I like a lot for its uniqueness. the queer aspects are a BIG refresher from the usual heterosexual ones as well, so I’m open to queer, POC, or female protagonist books.

For example If you’ve seen the movie the Fifth Element (which I love, despite myself), the born sexy trope… really annoys me and I’m just a little tired of badly aged tropes in sci-fi.

I’d really appreciate the recommendations! I’m excited to look for something new to read! Thank you!

I’d look at Becky Chambers. Both of her series are amazing and loosely fit your criteria.

If you liked the locked Tomb, get into Yoon Ha Lee and Anne Leckie. Seriously. For a more cyberpunk side, Company Town by Madeline Ashby, the Max Gladstone craft books. Also check out Semiosis by Sue Burke. Then come back for more recommendations depending on what you liked.
