    Hi everyone!

So I just can’t for the life of me read stuff like Fourth Wing, as the writing is just not good.

Are there some good high brow style authors who have incorporated some arcs and plot elements into their books that appease that inner trashy stereotypes lover?

She’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and her reputation seems to have slipped a bit since her death, but I’d make a case for Iris Murdoch ticking both these boxes.

Searching for Grace Kelly by Michael Callahan is well-written historical fiction with a surprising number of soapy plot twists.

The Rannoch Fraser series by Tracy Grant. The first is Vienna Waltz and the whole series is historical fiction spy/romance/mysteries set during the Napoleonic Wars. The series is full of soapy twists and intrigue.

This might be too high brow actually but the Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. It is an exquisitely written urban fantasy mafia trilogy.
