I really enjoy crime novels that take place in small towns and villages, usually set in forests/mountains/moors. Rainy weather, autumn/cool temperatures, anything that adds to an eerie feeling. Something that makes you start questioning whether you trust your own neighbors. It doesn't necessarily have to be from the perspective of a detective/police, but I do enjoy those. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
