Thinking of not renewing my Barnes and Noble premium membership… I have been using libraries more and I would like to support independent bookstores in my area more, but I do love B&N and have been shopping there for years. Would love some input from anyone who has been in my position before/your thoughts!

It just comes down to numbers. If you spend $400 or more on books in one year, the discount the premium membership provides will be paid for in savings. If you intend to by less than $400 worth of books in the year, you will not reach that threshold and you will have lost money on it. The free program is more suitable for people who are casual shoppers, who don’t intend to spend multiple hundreds of dollars on books in a year. There are benefits at the cafe, if you use the B&N cafe, and you get a free bag that’s a $20 value once a year, but in the end it’s a question of what you intend to spend.
