What’s a book that got adapted into a movie/show, but the adaptation changed something about the story that really put you off?

(Spoilers probably unavoidable in this discussion)

For me it is Annihilation. The movie added the whole infidelity aspect which completely changed the MC's motivation…the movie felt more cynical to me, since she was motivated by guilt rather than love.
