Instagram reels has done a number on my attention span. I just finished reading Red Mars and it was a SLOG–not because the book is bad or boring but it was like trying to run a marathon without training for one. I had the physical urge to keep checking social media and couldn't immerse myself in the story.

I'm looking for engrossing, fast-paced books with a strong voice that will talk over any attempt my brain makes to intrude on the reading experience. Much appreciated!

Give Project Hail Mary a try. I seem to have the attention span of a flea lately, and this kept me engaged.

The Family Experiment by John Marrs. Or any John Marrs really. Weird af dystopian scenarios. Every one of his books have had me absolutely glued!

I recently read Red Rising – fast paced and fun. Kept my attention all the way through.

Snowcrash felt very fast-paced and energetic to me. Definitely not a boring read. If I’m remembering correctly I think it starts off with a high speed car chase.

I just finished Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A Snyder. It was fast-paced and engrossing.

I often recommend S.A. Cosby for action packed and attention grabbing. To me, his books feel like watching an action film. Blacktop Wasteland is a great start for feeling like an amazing movie.

    7. If you have access to Libby reading on the phone using it means you’re already on your phone so nothing else to look at lol. But for real maybe start with novellas like piranesi or the murderbot diaries? Series that have novellas and novels in them are also good because you can get invested through one of the novellas and then the novels will be easier.
