I have interests in nearly every area I have ever explored. I am typically pretty decisive in critical situations, but as I approach a pivotal point in my life and career I'm realizing I need to make a decision.
Could anyone recommend great books in various academic disciplines, or related (great fiction that has helped you), that may help me decide what I should pursue? I feel like I need to continue to randomly read and document what peaks my interest, but a part of me feels this is just a delay tactic subconsciously.
I am relatively high in both intellect and neuroticism on the Big 5, so as is custom I am constantly coming up with new ideas and paths for myself but undermining myself shortly thereafter. I don't feel like anyone around me struggles with this, so it's difficult to feel I belong anywhere.
For reference, I'm simultaneously considering being a Police Officer or returning to school to get a PhD. I feel like I'm going insane and can't understand why my interests are so broad. Help is appreciated. Thank you.
