(Mainly asking this for cis gay/bi/pan etc. men but honestly anyone can place their input if they want as it’ll all be helpful in the long run.)
Anyway I will add some context disclaimers on what this book has so far so then you can understand the scope of what I’m asking for.
First: this book is about a species that we our creating. So the beauty standards, prejudices, and many things that are within human society will not be put into in this world. A huge one is Vs don’t attach gender to clothing. (I won’t say the species name to keep it a secret so no one copies lol. V is a placeholder for this post) another big one for this society is that there is no homophobia like there is in the human world. I will say our reasons below

    Reasons:

    1. The way they reproduce is a lot different to humans. It doesn’t really delve into pregnancy or eggs I don’t think at this time. Therefore there’s no stigma towards if a certain type of individual is with another when it comes to reproducing.

    2. Another huge one is they don’t really care about having offspring. As their lifespans are different than humans. (I won’t really delve into too much into the lore/reasonings behind these things to stay on topic and also to keep our species as secretive as possible)

    3. the religion isn’t something we touched on but again: since the way they reproduce is different there’s isn’t a hate for anyone not to be together.

    4. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to deny the existence of LGBTQIA+ hate by not acknowledging it in our series but I would love that since this is a separate species, we could play with a world with different types of stigmas. My example would be how other animals dont give a flying fuck about shit that humans do or believe lol. There is documented gay activity between animals and they don’t have a care in the world. I’m just saying that in the world we are creating, they just loves who they love and they don’t have labels. If I had to give them a label if they belonged in our world, the population would be pansexual technically. But in their world they just love whoever they connect with. There’s no labels on stuff like that. (That being said, their society is hella fucked up and don’t think that just cuz there isn’t any stigmas toward that that the stigmas they have aren’t damaging as well hehe)
    Sorry for the tangent.

One final thing will there be any sexual scenes? I’d say no. while our series will have triggering topics like , Gore, trauma, psychological moments, etc. there won’t be any sex scenes. My reasoning is simply because we are both women writing this story. And I don’t feel comfortable to write two men couple together sexually since I just again, don’t want to give off the impression of fetishizing nor do I feel I have the audacity to write an intimate scene that doesn’t apply to us. There will be scenes like making out or sexual attraction dialogues/ actions to further show the connection they have but I draw the line at anything that involves sexual activity out of respect.

Let me know if you guys need any more context to know more on what I’m specifically asking for but finally, these are what I want to know and why I’m here typing this:

    1. How do gay men (or hell any couples of any sexuality that aren’t straight. Feel free to comment as well.) interact realistically ? What do writers do that make you mentally eye roll on how they write them that irritate you.

    2. What are tropes you hate seeing in Q stories that come across as ignorant/not realistic?
    3. is there anything that you don’t see often in media that you wish you see more of?

    4. Don’t be afraid to apply examples of any series of any kind that are negative or positive to expand our knowledge of how to write a good/bad story when Q people are involved.
