Suggest me a non fiction book about observers of the rise of the third reich- that saw it at the time for what it was

That knew what they were seeing was dangerous and manipulative, that didn’t buy the propaganda, were perhaps apolitical or at least not supportive of that regime.

I was thinking mainly Germans but others close by maybe too.
