I'm visiting Ireland for a week in October. We're staying in a cottage overlooking a forest, mountain, and lake. A castle and other ruins are just around the corner. I'm hoping to get lots of reading done by the fire. I love historic fiction, but really any fiction that's in that kind of setting would be great.
I enjoy elements of fantasy and romance, too, but (not to be snobby) I don't like most popular/modern books like ACOTAR. I just can't get on board with the tropes and writing/dialogue styles.
I love Lord of the Rings, I've read some Outlander and enjoyed it, as well as some from A Song of Ice and Fire. Other random books I've read recently and loved: The Overstory by Richard Powers, Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman.
Sláinte!
Oh and ETA: I'm also a big Stephen King fan, so I don't mind a bit of spooky stuff. Especially in a country packed with folklore during Halloween season!
