First off- fricken love my MIL. She’s going through a hard time, as she’s been pretty much given the responsibility of becoming the care giver for both her and her husband’s aging parents. This has started a kind of mid life crisis, where she’s surrounded by dementia and is worried she is developing it and wants to keep her mind active so, after assuring her that it’s 100% due to her current environment, I suggested we do a little book club and she is so excited.
Here’s the thing- she cannot suspend disbelief. At all. She’s a sweet lady who has to guard her heart with her media consumption, she can’t do dark and gloomy stuff. Her happy place features I love Lucy, the Brady Bunch, and clean -often Christian- comedy. However- my reading habits lean towards fantasy, true crime, and post apocalyptic fiction so I am at a loss of what to suggest!
What books would you recommend for this lovely lady that are sugar (but no spice), just everything nice?
