And now they are everywhere! I’ve seen so many first printings of books with sprayed edges when this used to be something for special editions and reprints. It just looks ugly. And there’s something in my brain (that I know is wrong) that makes me feel like the sprayed edges actually feel very different then normal book pages. Like looking at them gives me the ick and I don’t want to physically tough them.
I’m also convinced this is for people who don’t actually read the books, they just over consume them and horde them on their bookshelves. And the color saturation is always too bright compared to the actual cover of the book.
I don’t ever buy books with sprayed edges but I’m so worried with this trend that one day a book I’m really excited about and want for my library will have the sprayed edges.
And if you like this that’s ok! Everyone’s different I just can’t do it.
How are other people feeling about this?
