What are some books that the author really took their time writing?
An example I'm thinking of is Donna Tartt, who takes about 10 years on average per book. Doesn't have to have taken that much time, but something that took at least a few years to write… Books that the author was really invested in getting right and prioritized fulfilling their vision over rushing to publication… I've noticed that these are often really good reads and feel fully realized/"lived in", and I would love to find more. A couple of other examples that are in my mind in this category are House of Leaves and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Any genre.
