Hi everyone! This year I just got back into reading and have read more than any year in the past, and consistently through a few tough months. I feel like some of the things that really helped me were figuring out how to work with my ADHD brain, mainly the library and Goodreads. The four things that motivate ADHD brains are interest/passion (Goodreads helps me evaluate what I might like), competition/challenge (also Goodreads), urgency (library deadlines), and novelty (picking up a new stack at the library vs. stuff that’s been on my shelf for years). These are the main things that worked for me, but I’ve heard of so many more!
So my question is…how do you work with your brain to read, and continue reading? Or is just enjoying the hobby enough for you?
