My 12 year old sister doesn’t like reading (I don’t know how we’re related). I think she just isn’t reading the right things – she loves horror, her favourite film is Saw 2 and I’m trying to find horror books for her but I’m struggling to find any that are horror without any kind of adult themes and aren’t TOO scary for her

House on Hackmans Hill. I read it for school probably when I was about 12. Pretty scary but definitely for kids. It’s been a long time though so I can’t be for sure how scary it was

Maybe **Demonata** series by Darren Shan? It’s written for kinds and young adults, but it might be too much for her.

I recommend Undead Girl Gang and Scout’s Honor, both by Lily Anderson!

Undead Girl Gang is about a teenaged witch whose best friend (along with the 3 mean girls from school) died under mysterious circumstances. The witch doesn’t believe that her BFF would have a suicide pact with the mean girls (which is the official story) so decides to pull a Nancy Drew about it. And just happens to bring the girls back from the dead to get eyewitness accounts.

Scout’s Honor is about a girl who is a legacy part of the Ladybird Scouts, which is a longstanding demon/monster hunter group that masquerades as a ladies society. Tragic things happen and the girl tries to renounce her legacy, but more things happen and she’s sucked right back in!

      Maybe The Fisherman?

I think there are some Stephen King books that would work, like Pet Sematary, Salem’s Lot, Insomnia, The Institute, Duma Key, Misery. I would probs say avoid reading “IT” or “The Shining” until she’s at least 16 or something.

Oh actuality, a series that’s more aimed for that age group is Lockdown: Escape from Furnace

    5. Fear Street series by RL Stine! Same author as goosebumps, but these are novellas aimed at older kids / teenagers

    6. Honestly
I started reading Stephen king around that age.
It’s prettt mature but… idk if she can watch saw I think she can handle some adult topics

    7. The October Country (Ray Bradbury). This one’s pretty old school but it has some classic spooky stories and should be perfect for her age level.

    8. Fazbear Frights and first FNAF trilogy.

If she knows what FNAF is, she’ll love them. (And also I don’t know more horror books but these ones are good ig)

    9. Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer. It’s part of a 3 book series for young adults that is really trippy.
