What little I know about Buddhism is impressively insightful and applicable, even to modern life. The problem I have is that I'm very interested in the concepts but there aren't many accessible and direct reads out there that can help you learn them. It's a very rich and detailed religion and authors usually think that you're interested in a deep dive into this richness, when in reality, you might just want to learn the concepts the same way you might learn for example modern philosophy. You don't necessarily want to learn about the different branches of Hinduism and the different sutras and the different masters and you don't necessarily want to read cryptic quotations from the religious books. You might just want to know what a certain concept is, in modern-day terms. The difference could be 200 pages and 50 less times you check google to remind yourself what a certain terminology means while reading. There are some good videos out there but I prefer to read.

Any such direct, accessible Buddhism books out there?
