I’m looking for graphic novels for my 10 year old nephew! I absolutely refuse to buy this child any more electronics or toys—he gets all these expensive gadgets like 3 hoverboards he doesn’t even use from the “rich” side of his family. I know for a fact he reads graphic novels like Captain Underpants and The Last Kids on Earth because that’s all he checks out from the library, so here we are. But I guess I’m looking for something that might not be carried in his school library, which is a bit small.
He does not like Goosebumps / scary books, so let’s leave those out. Please generally avoid blood/gore and graphic violence. His parents will not let him read profanities, either.
He likes Lego (but not Minecraft—is that elitist, or?), Pokemon (specifically Pikachu), and outdoor adventures. He watches the Wild Kratts and Netflix animal documentaries, as well as silly “noodly” animated films like Minions and Hotel Transylvania. He also likes plentiful and bright colors—not neon, but he dresses like a kaleidoscope of mix-matched clothing if his mother doesn’t intervene, so maybe not a B&W book.
He’s also going through a phase where he’s super into silly pranks (eg, yelling that there’s water running down the stairs, but it’s a series of water bottles scattered over the steps), so maybe a prankster character?
I don’t read many kids’ books or have kids of my own, so suggestions are much appreciated! TIA.
