I am fortunate enough to be going on holiday next week. I fancy an epic that follows a family or group of people over a few generations. I'm thinking something along the line of pachinko or the thornbirds. Just a really good story. Any recommendations gratefully appreciated. Thanks

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Maybe Edward Rutherfurd’s Sarum, a story of England. This novel starts with neolithic man arriving in the Sarum area and follows certain bloodlines all the way to present day. Another is Hawaii by James Michener. It begins with the formation of the islands and ends with statehood. I enjoyed both. Have a wonderful holiday!!
