My 10 year old niece loves rom-com movies, so I thought I’d buy her, her first rom-com book. I’ve seen a lot that are more geared toward teens, but I’m looking for a book in the 9-12 age range. She’s a strong reader, so 12+ is okay, as long as content is very PG. A kiss at the end of the book is great, just no insinuation or anything more than that.

    Thank you in advance!!

Francine Pascal’s ‘Sweet Valley High’ and ‘Sweet Valley Twins”. I read these in junior high (I’m 41 now) and I LOVED them. It would be very age appropriate for her age group. It’s a whole series. If she likes it, it will keep her busy for a long time. And the books are super cheap online.

    2. Linda Urban’s Talk Santa to Me is YA, but quite gentle. I think Elise Bryant, and Maureen Goo, but double check on commonsense media (they are YA too.)

For middle grade, Debbi Michiko Florence’s books, Shug, Apple Crush, Ella Enchanted, Redwood and Ponytail, Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time

    3. Anne of Green Gables. There is romance but Anne herself is just the most romantic character ever.

    4. If she likes mystery at all, try the Enola Holmes books. The first book, the Case of the Missing Marques, has a lot of rom-com type interaction between Enola and the boy she meets.

I always loved “The Wedding Planner’s Daughter” series (6 books total) by Coleen Murtagh Paratore when I was in late elementary-middle school. It’s a very sweet (and clean) YA romance series about friendship and young love. I’m in my 20s and would still gladly pick one of these up when I need something to cheer me up!
