In addition to the historical aspects of these series, I also love how the authors’ describe the characters collecting and using nature around them to heal and feed others. In Cave Bear, I loved the survival aspect, and the time travel in Outlander is also a favorite trope of mine.
Are there any other books (series is a plus) that might satisfy my itch? Smut is a big plus as well! ; )

Edited to add: for food and medicine descriptions, think along the lines of Brian Jacques. Loved the feasts in Redwall!

Did you finish the Clan of the Cave Bear series? There’s like 5 or 6 books if I recall.

*Hild* and *Menewood* by Nicola Griffith. Fictionalized life of Hilda of Whitby, who goes from seer to saint during the 7th century rule of her uncle, Edwin of Northumbria. Vivid descriptions of daily life, herbalism, the changing world of the time – and yes, smut.

      TW: >!half-sibling incest!<

    3. *Shaman* by Kim Stanley Robinson is similar to *Cave Bear* in that it’s about a band of prehistoric humans. There’s some sex, but not a smutty book.

For smutty books with historical settings I really liked *The Witch of Cologne* by Tobsha Learner and *Kushiel’s Dart* by Jacqueline Carey.

Super huge fan of MC Scott here. The Boudicca Quadrology; :*Dreaming the…* is outstanding. PreChristian and Pre Roman Colonization Britain. I also loved her Rome Series.

Bernard Cornwell’s reimagining of the Arthurian Legends is not terrible either.
