Didn’t seem to be scared by Pet Semetary?

I just finished reading pet sematary, my first ‘real’ horror book after Coraline, and while the world was immersive and the story was thrilling I can’t say I had the same reaction as the hype led me to believe I’d have. Maybe it’s because I’m not a parent, but I’ve definitely experienced loss.

The book was a little slow at first but picked up in parts 2 and 3.

Is my fear factor broken? What are some truly scary books I can try out?
