I'm currently reading The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and it feels similar in many ways to Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, both of which I enjoyed a lot. What are some more like this?

    • Background or no romance

    • Brisk pace, plotty

    • A bit off-the-wall

    • Funny, spirited (satirical?)

    1. **Where’d You Go, Bernadette** by Maria Semple – quirky, fast-paced about an eccentric woman who goes missing, told through a series of emails, letters, and other documents. It’s funny, slightly satirical, and offbeat, with a focus on family dynamics and adventure

**A Man Called Ove** by Fredrik Backman – it has moments of emotional depth but it’s an uplifting story about a grumpy older man whose life changes when new neighbors move in. It’s witty and heartwarming without being too romance-centric. The movie is great too!!

    2. You may enjoy The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime and other Mark Haddon books

    3. Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons (the movie with Kate Beckinsale and Rufus Sewell is also worth checking out)
