I was in a similar position to you having mostly read sci fi and fantasy, I tried some literary fiction and the one series I absolutely loved was The Cemetery of Forgotten Books by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
It’s a great series which feels like a love letter to books and readers. Set in a really atmospheric Barcelona post the Spanish civil war the city becomes another character in the story. There are big mystery elements at the core of the series and they all feel satisfying when they conclude.
