With the news about women's rights continuing to be stripped away in Afghanistan, I'm interested in learning more about the experiences of women in the region.

I previously read and loved A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini so looking for similar novels or memoirs (preferably by women).

Have you read anything in this genre that you recommend?

“Lawless: A Lawyer’s Urelenting Fight for Justice in War Zone.” By Kimberly Motley. Motley is a former Miss Wisconsin who worked as an international rights lawyer in Afghanistan for many years. I think she’s back in the US now, but her work in Afghanistan was fascinating. There is also a doc called Motley’s Law.
