I unfortunately recently watched the Longmire television series and now wish I hadn't. I want to read the book series by Craig Johnson but afraid that watching the show first may ruin the books and mystery.
Has anyone watched the show first then read the books? Is it still worth to read them? How much different is the show from the book?

It’s best to think of the TV show as a sort of alternate universe. ex. The whole thing with Hector doesn’t exist in the books. Vic looks nothing like the actress and her storyline is a lot different.
That said, the books are the superior story.
I did! I watched the show when it was airing (loved it so much! Wish it could’ve had 1 more season!) I just started the books last year (I have finished thru book 7.) So, I had a decent amount of time in between the two. The mysteries in the first ones are kind of the same, but then it branches out. The Walt/Vic storyline is a bit different too as are some of the other characters. I don’t personally think the books will be ruined for you, if you’ve already seen the show.
