A few years ago I found a book (I assume it's a tad older for example 2000 and I had a Dutch version). The book was about a boy that was locked up in a small dusty attic. The neighbor was a woman who was very nice (if I'm not mistaken they lived in a small appartment block). She sometimes invited him in and offered him food and drinks when his mum wasn't home and she was also the one that called social services that the boy wasn't treated well by his parents/mum. Social services felt something was off but couldn't find any proof. Until one moment the boy was found in the small dusty attic. it was a book that really touched my social work heart that sometimes you need to follow your gut feeling cause parents are very good at hiding abuse and kids are scared to go against their parent. Anyone know what this book might be called?
