The Culture Map by Erin Meyer – a look at how different cultures around the world view things like punctuality, hierarchy, trust, conflict resolution, and proper communication. Super helpful for understanding where others might be coming from, and for comprehending a completely different mindset from your own. It’s framed around the business world, but I think it’s applicable in all settings and such great information to have if you regularly communicate with anyone of a different culture from your own.
The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs by Steve Brusatte – exactly what it sounds like, and written in a very engaging manner. If you ever wondered how we learned for certain that an asteroid was responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs, or how we know that so many of them had feathers and they were actually very colorful, or you just want to see some cool facts like the one about the dinosaur with the huge sharp teeth that uses its head like a hammer to hack prey to pieces (as opposed to biting down and squeezing with the jaws as we might expect), then definitely read this book!
