I am looking for a romance that has a sad or bittersweet story/ending. I haven't read many romance books so I don't have an example, but movies that match the vibe I'm looking for is 'Portrait of a Lady on Fire', 'Past Lives', 'Carol' or Wong Kar Wai movies. I am open to any recommendations, but I do prefer historical fiction and stories from diverse authors. Thank you!
