Books that explore and talk about the beliefs, mythology, folklore, etc, of Americans and the people who came to America. Fiction or Non-Fiction, from any era

I just finished rereading American Gods and besides everything else about that book something that really interests me is the discussion of American beliefs, and about the gods and folktales that people brought with them and that are still around in some shape.

Historical accounts, research, fiction involving myths in america (whether they’re real or just something the characters talk about), anything about the spirits that people encountered and brought over with them, and might still encounter (In any era or century, colonial, pre-colonial, civil war, modern day, etc)

Gods, spirits, folk heroes, ghosts, cryptids, superstitions, unexplainable encounters, paranormal phenomena, anything!
