I have a deep interest in the origins of and the dissemination of the “Satanic Panic” ideology in America, especially how it extended beyond its Christian right-wing beginnings. I’m also interested in how that panic has come back and taken on a new form in the modern American Christo-fascist society.
Would love to find a book that explores this, but I haven’t been able to find anything that really fits the bill.

It’s about a few other things first, but Unmask Alice: LSD, Satanic Panic, and the Imposter Behind the World’s Most Notorious Diaries by Rick Emerson is a pretty good and accessible way to start, showing one avenue by which ideas from the Satanic Panic were spread, and how those ideas connect to previous similar panics.
It’s fiction, but Whisper Down the Lane by Clay McLeod Chapman might be what you’re looking for!
