I recently started reading books again but I want to do it with a twist. Since I have a high level of French that I want to maintain, I tought of reading books in French instead of English.
The only problem is that… What if the book isn’t as good as the English author intended? Should I worry about not enjoying it as much as I would reading it in English?
A good example is “Come Closer” by Sara Gran. I heard it is a very suspensful and terrifying book. However I’d like to try its French counterpart “Viens plus près”. What if the book isn’t as suspensful and as terrifying as the English version? Will I miss out some details, contents?

I always try to read books in their original language. Why don’t you just reas books written by French authors?

Why don’t you just read books actually written in French? It’s not like there’s a shortage of French literature.
