I'm going on a road trip with my mom soonish and would love an audio book to listen to with her while I drive. It'll be about 16 hours one way, so the more books, the merrier!
She is very conservative, but does love 0 spice romances. We both like historical fiction. I love fantasy. She almost exclusively reads Christian books, so im trying to lean sort of that dorection, but it doesnt have to be. She'll do a crime novel or something that's a little bit thriller, but not too much. Think like Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti on that front.
I'm debating the Inheritance cycle, but I read that already this year. It'll probably be my fall back.

How about A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith?
Second “Tree”
also: A Town Like Alice (HF)
The Murder of Roger Akroyd (Christie)
At Home in Mitford (Clerical main character; but not overly religious and providing some great small town characters)
Rebecca
She might enjoy Lord of the Rings? The audiobooks (either the Serkis rendition or the Inglis rendition) are both fantastic (although the singing in both is atrocious). Inglis is more light hearted with more variation between voices, but Serkis is hypnotic and grittier.
(Edited: Rendition, not translation. 🤦♂️)
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz is an incredible story of the uphill battle early Christians had to wage against Rome. The characters are wonderful, inspiring, and the dialogue discussing the differences between Roman philosophy and Christian philosophy is fascinating.
The Women by Kristin Hannah
The No. 1 Ladies Detecive Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
“The Outlaw Noble Salt” by Amy Harmon
“All My Secrets” by Lynn Austin
“The Lost Letters of Aisling” by Cynthia Ellingsen
“We Must be Brave” by Frances Liardet
“When We Were Enemies” by Emily Bleeker
“The Things We Cannot Say” by Kelly Rimmer
All above are beautifully narrated and none have excess or unnecessary foul language or violence, and none have sex or if they do it’s only “implied”.
The Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, read by Meryl Streep. It’s a beautiful book and Streep puts in her typical brilliant performance. A mom of three teen daughters tells them about her past romance with a famous movie star, and the love she shows to her family and her farm is just wonderful. Not spicy at all other than the expected brief scenes between two teenage lovers.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (one of the best audiobooks ever!)
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (historical mystery set in Washington at the Capitol)
When the men were gone is a great story based on a true story.
Switchboard Soldiers is a fantastic story! It’s mostly historical fiction but does include a few real life people. I can’t recommend it enough. Bought for my 96 yr old Aunt. It was one of the last books she read. Thanked me 3 different times before she passed.
The Mitford Series. They are about a retired minister. Mostly pleasant stories. By Jan Karon. Start at the first one as they continue with the story.
