This is a really specific ask, but I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me. I’m currently taking a class studying children’s literature, and each week has a different theme (e.g. banned books, science, memoir, war narratives, etc.). As part of the class, each person is assigned a read-aloud date over the course of the semester, and reads a picture book that fits in with that week’s theme; for example, on the science week, someone brought in a Magic School Bus picture book.
On the week that I’m assigned to read, the theme is “graphic novels/comic books.” I’m really struggling to come up with picture book ideas that work with this theme. I thought about just reading aloud an issue of a comic book, but it needs to be a traditional children’s picture book, and it should work thematically with that week’s discussion. So I figured I’d ask here.
Does anyone know of any picture books that would work alongside the theme of graphic novels/comic books?
