I have a lot of trouble getting into fiction books, and it is often frustrating. I'm in a dark dark place right now & struggling so much. I'm post-breakup, I can't even process romance or anything with love or couples right now. I want a book or series that takes me to another world, but isn't like war-related. Lol I like girly stuff. I actually like revisiting childhood/young adult nostalgia to comfort me, but I'm also down for depressing or existential/trippy, as long as they are relatively easy reads. I mostly read non fiction spirituality related books, but want to get more into fiction. Been really enjoying going to the library lately. Any suggestions?

This is a tricky request because I feel like most fantasy falls somewhere on either the “romance” spectrum or the “war” spectrum. Leaning into trippy, and devoid of romance and war aspects the first thing that comes to my mind is Piranesi by Susannah Clark, it’s pretty short as well. Maybe also check out Fairy Tale by Stephen king, it has a lot to do with that sense of childlike wonder.
Read A man named Ove. It helped restore faith to humanity for me.
