I just finished Altered Carbon, and loved it. Then I picked up the next book for our book club: The Secret Book of Flora Lea.
Ouch.
Tight writing, lots of action and violence to predictable purple prose and running back-and-forth in a timeline.
What books have you read back-to-back that gave you whiplash because they were so different?

This year I finished the First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie, all one after the other without anything in between… and then immediately picked up Beach Read by Emily Henry. THAT was a hell of a tone switch.
