I watched this livestream with two movie guys. I like watching their content because they go deep dive because one loves movies and the other is a psychiatrist. But this movie guy made a weird comment I don’t feel like I agree with. He said that movie characters can’t say exactly the line which the character says in the book because “people don’t talk like that”. He believes the way people talk in books is unrealistic.

I kinda feel the opposite? I feel like characters in books are much more realistic and feels more like what people could say in real life. Meanwhile people in movies don’t feel as realistic because they have to like give us the viewer information, they usually say the obvious that I feel real people wouldn’t say.

I think the reason movies don’t always take directly from the book is because movie is a different format and they have limited time to fit everything while also informing us the viewer and keeping us entertained. They also need to sound good and dramatic and all that, it’s different. I love both because as the psychologist said, they are apple and oranges, you can’t compare them. That said I still think book dialogues are way more realistic though
