Let me start off by saying that I'm dyslexic and reading is kinda a chore for me. I used to get really into it though when the book was really engaging and rewarded me for sticking with it. After college I kind of just stopped reading though so most of my favorite books are old and I haven't been keeping up with anything to know what's good and engaging out now.
That said, I really like stories where you're left not knowing if the narrator is an unreliable narrator or not. Unreliable narrator is good but not knowing for sure? Even better. I don't know any books with the kind of a vibe but my favorite tv show is the OA.
Speculative fiction with a mystery feeling is also really good. Less "who done it" and more what's going on. If that makes sense.
Lastly, I really like stuff like Neil Gaiman and Octavia Butler. I've read all their stuff.
I tend to dislike stuff that's like sword and sorcery or space opera.
Thank you so much for helping me find something interesting to read.
