It’s okay if they do, but would love some where real women are perceived as “witches” or similar, because patriarchy. Or just general spooky vibes, but not leaning too heavily towards paranormal stuff.

    Books I’ve liked:
    – I don’t think it’s a very well known book, but I loved The Hour of the Witch, by Chris Bojallian, which reads very much as a domestic/suburbia thriller, but set around the 17th century, about a woman who’s believed to be a witch.
    – I also really liked Weyward, by Emilia Hart.
    – I also loved The Secret Society of Irregular Witches, by Sangu Mandanna, but I’m looking for something a bit spookier, or a bit darker, or with more “tension”.

Books that are in my TBR, and please comment if you recommend them or not:
    – The Witches: Salem 1692, Stacy Schiff
    – Weyrd Sisters, Terry Pratchett (I have never read anything by the author, or other Discworld books)
    – We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Shirley Jackson
    – The Turn of the Screw, Henry James

    Thanks!!!
