Hi! If you couldn’t guess, I’m going through a rough patch right now. Hoping to read something about learning how to enjoy waking up in the morning. A story about someone starting to get better. A story with an ending that says “yeah life isn’t perfect for sure but you can make your own tea every morning and look at birds and maybe that’s enough for now.” Preferably something on the ‘cozier’ side of things rather than the depressing side. I’m looking for something…realistically optimistic in nature.

A good example of what I’m looking for is something like Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. It’s got a lot of serious subject matter, but the overall tone is hopeful. I’ve just already read this book and am looking for another.

There’s a couple of subjects I would rather not read about. Feel free to still recommend books with them in case someone else is interested, but I would appreciate it if you could mention that these things are in it:
    – Blatant, on page self harm. It can happen in the past, but I don’t want to read about the intimate details of it.
specifically suicide by hanging oneself. In any context.
    – sexual abuse

(Edit: thought I would add a list of other books I’ve enjoyed, even if they’re unrelated. Just to give you an idea of what I usually like:
    – The Thursday Murder Club, Richard Osman
    – One Puzzling Afternoon, Emily Critchley
    – In The Lives of Puppets, T.J. Klune)
