In search of fiction, any genre. What I'm looking for are recommendations for your angriest authors or books. Characters in the story can be angry or even bottle that anger but I'm not necessarily wanting it to make me as a reader mad. Sure it can but I'm more wanting it in the story itself. The anger can stem from their place in life, situations they caused or happened to them, accidental, anything really but if possible I'd like to avoid the spurned lover trope.
For example. I've read the first two Celeste Ng books. Little Fires Everywhere and especially Everything I Never Told You there's an anger that seems to lie underneath. It comes out in how the characters react and are treated but that's what I'm looking for. The heat coming from the author and makes it into the story.
An older book, Lancelot by Walker Percy, also has that same feel for me. I've read most of Percy's books and while they are sarcastic and funny, Lancelot just had an anger that doesnt show up in his other novels.
Anyone have any thoughts? Recommendations? Thanks for the help.
