Hi! I am looking for suggestions for a 17-year-old. Preferably something a little edgy.
Either YA or adult, but something easy to get into, and she hasn't always been the most dedicated reader.
Preferably something with elements of romance and a thriller/mystery/murder mystery.

{{The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux}}
*The Thin Man* by Dashiell Hammet. I’m serious. It’s about a married couple who are deeply in love with each other and whose only motivation to solve the mystery is to get everyone to leave them alone so they can drink, have sex, and play with their dog in peace.
Or maybe {{the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern}} if Fantasy is ok
It’s adult rather than YA (no spice though), but Finlay Donovan Is Killing It is extremely fast paced, funny, scary, and addictive. It’s about a mystery author who is overheard at Panera talking to her agent about how she doesn’t know how to “kill the guy” in her book, and is mistaken for a hitwoman and offered a job. Shenanigans ensue. It’s a really, really good time. Thriller, murder mystery, a tiny bit of romance.
Some YA murder mysteries
The woods are always Watching and There’s Someone Inside Your House both by Stephanie Perkins
A Good Girls Guide to Murder series by Holly Jackson
What she Found In The Woods by Joesphine Angelini
The Cheerleaders, Little Monsters and The Darkest Corners all by Kara Thomas
Far From You by Tess Sharpe
Curel Summer by Juno Dawson
All the Pretty Things By Emily Arsenault
With Malice by Elieen Cook
13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough
I stumbled into One of Us Is Lying and enjoyed it! I don’t usually do the YA. Not graphic but a little romance. Easy read, seems pretty relatable.
*a good girl’s guide to murder* is great and has all of the above! super easy to get into and gripping
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
