For me it used to be Infinite Jest and High Fidelity. I don’t know why, other than the title is two words. But it meant that instead of reading a book that was recommended to me, I spent a long four months reading Infinite Jest that I’ll never get back (I did actually enjoy IJ, but it was a long and difficult road).

I at one point had the Phantom Tollbooth fused together with another book I still don’t know the name of. The other book had a boy and girl protagonist, and I put the events of Phantom Tollbooth with the boy protag.
Not books but authors.
For a long time I thought Lord of the Flies and the Princess Bride were written by the same person. Turns out William Golding isn’t William Goldman.
