Recommend me something where music is a theme or referenced a lot. I’ve liked Just Kids by Patti Smith, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, Kill Your Friends by John Niven, and Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite. Thank you!
The Wishbones by Tom Perrotta (he’s very similar to Hornby)
Basket Case by Carl Hiaasen
Salty by Mark Haskell Smith (not really music-centered, but main character is a retired metal guitarist)
Many of Chuck Klosterman’s essays have a lot to do with music and pop culture. He’s a very fun writer with a very interesting way of looking at things. (most of his books are basically essay collections.)
