a well-written non-fiction story about (or from the pov of) upper-middle class characters, exploring and overcoming non-poverty related trauma & troubles (modern-ish times, at least after 60’s)

im thinking about my own relevant problems enough as is. i need an escape into an equally serious approach but on a different side of life

there's so few of those, most are either poorly written or obliviously cheerful, one of my latest examples is Dracula but it's distractingly gendered, fictional and in a too far off time period. not romance-centered either.

red dragon is also a good example but im looking for something less edgy & more real and everyday
