It’s been a rough year for my family and for my MIL I typically buy books for Christmas. This year the ones I default to are not thematically appropriate so I’d really appreciate suggestions for anything lighthearted or upbeat please.
The major triggers I need to avoid are mentions of alcoholism and suicide please. Thanks

Honestly, despite her religious bearing, I rather enjoyed Candace Cameron Bure’s book “Kind is the New Classy”
It does have religious elements, but to me, at least, it seemed more of a “thid is how I apply the Bible to my life ” suggestion than the blatant in your face stuff her brother does.
If that doesn’t suit (and I’d wager a lot of people wouldn’t like it) Anne Of Green Gables as a box set has always been lighthearted IMO
