My niece loves to read books about animals but she's outgrown her favorite series and is struggling to find books in her reading level (closer to 15yr olds) that she still enjoys.

Any recommendations for light hearted animal books for an older teen level?

I haven’t read it in nearly 30 years but maybe the Animorphs series? I remember really liking those as a kid

    4. The early parts of this book can be sad and/or perhaps triggering for some. It’s not specific but a few uncomfortable moments are eluded to that are sadly true for many dogs, but it’s a wonderful story written from a dog’s first person perspective who had a rough life early but found a great forever home and family. I might be hard pressed to call it lighthearted, though. But I feel it’s worth mentioning just in case it seems worth a try.

“Kat the Dog” by Alyson Sheldrake. I just finished the great audiobook a week ago. Came up on a random Audible sale.

When I was a 12 year old girl who liked animal books, I loved reading James Herriot’s books
